Susanna Brown

I have been working as a self employed Landscape Architect and Garden Designer since 1992. I pride myself on a friendly service offering inspiring ideas.

My aim is to create beautiful and atmospheric gardens that reflect the personal style and practical needs of my clients.

I have created a wide range of both contemporary and traditional gardens, ranging from tiny courtyards to very large gardens.

Clients have included comedian Jasper Carrott, footballers Andy Townsend and Ben Foster.

I have an excellent plant knowledge and enjoy creating bold and beautiful planting designs which range from highly ornamental to naturalistic planting schemes using indigenous species to reflect the local landscape and habitats.

From a very early age I have loved art and gardens. My first job was working in a local garden centre and then with a ceramic artist. I later studied horticulture at Pershore College and then a Post Graduate Degree in Landscape Architecture at UCE, Birmingham. I have a strong practical background having worked in nurseries, garden centres and for landscape contractors.

My career has been a lot of fun and has included amongst other things radio and television work. I have worked with Charlie Dimmock and Diarmuid Gavin. I have also had the pleasure of meeting Alan Titchmarsh, Monty Don and Andy Sturgeon. See below to view my credentials in detail.

My design philosophy

  • Use strong structural design
  • Utilise clean and simple lines
  • Use materials which compliment the house and surroundings
  • Offer creative solutions to challenging situations
