I worked closely with the architect to link the building and garden using matching materials and colours, soft grey granite and blue engineering bricks. Strong lines push out from the building into the garden. The house is curved and many of the garden features follow this form. Planting is used in a sculptural structural way, hedges are used as feature blocks where they are less plants than ‘forms’ within the landscape.
The formerly sloping lawn was levelled with low granite step curves set into the grass which create gorgeous structural lines running through the garden.
The contrast of the new building and the old walls is striking and beautiful!
